Channels: Innovation Pack 14.13

Channels: Welcome to the age of self-directed learning

Innovation Pack 14.13 for the imc Learning Suite makes learning more self-determined than ever before

25.07.2022

Corporate learning and the learner's expectations are changing fundamentally. Learners no longer want to put up with dull face-to-face teaching and the cramming of theoretical knowledge. "Learning experience" is the keyword, and this means not only the appealing design of learning content and portals, but also a different kind of learning: personalised, informal and above all self-directed.

Therefore imc introduces a new  function which puts learning experience in the center: The Channels. Innovation Pack 14.13 for imc Learning Suite allows a totally new way of self-directed learning.

The new channels are topic-based containers that contain learning nuggets on the respective topics. Learners can subscribe to topics and are always kept up to date via email notifications when there is new content.

The look and feel are reminiscent of familiar platforms such as YouTube or Netflix, making it intuitive for all learners. When consuming a Learning Nugget, a playlist of content from the same channel is displayed at the edge of the screen so learners can quickly move to the next Learning Nugget.

imc presents the awareness game 'Cyber Crime Time'

How a hacker views IT security: imc presents the awareness game Cyber Crime Time

Cyber Crime Time is a serious game that lets the learner slip into the role of a hacker, learn the most common cyber-attacks first hand, while understanding how to best protect themselves from them.

Saarbruecken, 06 September 2021

As of today, imc – the leading provider for digital training and professional development – is offering the new awareness game Cyber Crime Time. The game can be played free of charge for personal use.

Mobile data, free internet access and remote work make us flexible – and a target for attacks. Many employees know little about IT security, and often become victims of cyber-attacks unbeknownst to them.

Creating awareness of cyber criminality is key for memorable training. That is why imc developed an awareness game: to help learners grasp the issue while motivating them to dive deeper into IT security. Cyber Crime Time lets the learner slip into the role of a hacker. Step by step, they learn the most common cyber-attacks first hand. The learner – or hacker – gradually adds to their 'hacker toolkit' to obtain secret information through the employees of a fictional company.

Sven R. Becker, Board Member, imc

“Protecting a company against cyber-attacks needs more than technical measures. The ‘human factor’ is one of the most important components of a successful IT security system,” explains Sven R. Becker, Member of the Executive Board at imc. “It is therefore key to sensitise each employee for the importance of IT security – and the most effective way to achieve that is by turning it into a game, letting the learner experience scenarios they can recognise in an immersive environment.”

Cyber Crime Time can be integrated into any Learning Management System (LMS) and added to the corporate standard training package. A personal hacker experience is also possible without LMS integration: The online version can be played on any device and is free of charge for personal use on a single-user licence.

imc AG expands portfolio of solutions for schools

Welcome to the hybrid classroom: imc AG expands portfolio of solutions for schools

imc AG, leading provider for digital training and professional development makes schools fit for digitalisation

Saarbruecken, 02 August 2021

Today, imc AG is presenting its My Digital School programme, expanding its portfolio for schools.

It was already well-known before the corona crisis: Germany’s schools are lagging behind considerably with their digital equipment. However, schools can only be successfully digitalised if the right conditions are created, and teachers are trained in handling and utilising relevant media and learning content. This is why imc wants to share its experience from 25 years of corporate learning with schools and school boards.

imc has been cooperating with several schools for a few years, and regularly exchanges ideas with them. Thus, the obvious next step is to expand the offer and support schools around the world with the expertise gained in this field. My Digital School aims to help teachers and schools to design tailored virtual and hybrid models, and realise them in a meaningful way.

imc Board Spokesman Christian Wachter has been driving cooperations with schools for many years. He is very aware of the issues many schools face:

Christian Wachter, Board Spokesman, imc

“For one, there is a lack of expertise like knowing how to use modern communication tools and systems. Moreover, relevant teaching and learning concepts need to be developed, given that digital learning differs from traditional lessons. Filming a face-to-face lesson or sending out an overhead slide in PDF format does not make it digital learning. Nevertheless, providing encouragement to take a step towards digitalisation is a matter close to our hearts. This past year, we realised numerous successful projects in schools that can serve as best practice examples for others.”
