Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. August-Wilhelm Scheer receives Rudolf Diesel Medal

Honored for "Most Successful Innovative Achievement" as a Pioneer of Modern Architectures for Information Systems

Saarbruecken/Augsburg, July 14th, 2023

On July 13, 2023, the Rudolf Diesel Medal, the oldest and most prestigious innovation award, was presented to Prof. Dr. August-Wilhelm Scheer in Augsburg in the category "most successful innovation achievement". He was honored as a visionary and entrepreneurial implementer of modern architectures for information systems.

The Rudolf Diesel Medal has been awarded since 1953 in memory of the innovator Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine. The Rudolf Diesel Medal honors individuals for special achievements in the field of invention and innovation culture.

Famous recipients include Wernher von Braun as a rocket pioneer, Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach as pioneers of automotive engineering, Conrad Zuse as the inventor of the computer, the founders of SAP AG, and several Nobel Prize winners.

The justification for the award of the medal states, among other things: "The ARIS concept, developed by August-Wilhelm Scheer around 1990, is a framework for optimizing business processes. The software product ARIS Toolset for modeling and optimizing business processes, developed by his company IDS Scheer AG, became one of the few internationally successful software products made in Germany. The ARIS concept simultaneously provided a theoretical foundation for the success of the process-oriented enterprise software that has shaped corporate information processing over the past 30 years."

All companies are internationally oriented. As a driver for innovation through application-oriented research, Scheer founded the non-profit "August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute for Digital Products and Processes".

"The Rudolf Diesel Medal is a very special honor for me. It is a recognition of the path I have taken as a scientist and entrepreneur. My drive has always been to successfully turn ideas from my research into products and services. This still drives me today."

Prof. Scheer's latest book, "Composable Enterprise", outlines the architecture for the digitized enterprise of the future.

Germany’s imc AG expands North America business with new location on U.S. East Coast

imc continues its expansion in the USA

Saarbruecken, February 2023

At the start of this year, imc announced the opening of an additional international location -- on the east coast of the USA. The new location continues the Saarbruecken, Germany-based e-learning provider’s growth trend of the past few years and further expands its global presence. It will enable imc to provide its existing customers in North America with a more personal experience. It will also allow the company to base support people for new customers directly in the American market.

For Christian Wachter, Chair of the Executive Board of imc AG, the new location is a logical next step. “We already have a lot of customers and partners in the USA,” he said. “We know our product portfolio is a good fit for the American market, so we felt it was important to establish another location to take our activities there to the next level.”

Wachter also likes his company’s chances of sourcing suitably qualified staff locally: “We won’t have to start from scratch, because we’ve already managed to find high-calibre candidates for a number of positions locally. The US labour market offers a lot of talent for us. I am looking forward to having a strong, growing local team, and hence to the new energy and fresh ideas that team is certain to bring to our entire organisation.”

Christian Wachter, CEO imc; Tim Treman, Business Development Manager imc

Tim Treman, imc’s business development manager in North America, visited the company’s headquarters in Saarbruecken for the launch and will soon start work in the new office, which is located near New York. imc’s current plans are to concentrate its activities in the USA on sales, consulting, and customer success.

Impressively, the company aims to be ready to mount a showcase at the ATD (Association for Talent Development) Conference in San Diego in May. The conference is one of the leading events in the L&D (learning and development) sector, and is expected to attract more than 13,000 attendees from over 80 countries.

Prof. Dr. August-Wilhelm Scheer, the founder and president of the supervisory board of the Scheer Group, of which imc is part, supports imc’s growth initiative in the USA. “For the Scheer organisation, 2023 is all about growth on the North American continent,” he said. “imc AG will now join Scheer GmbH in establishing an important new branch office on the U.S. East Coast.

The USA is a highly attractive market for imc AG because it is both a major crossroads for global companies and the world’s biggest market for e-learning products. I have no doubt that imc AG, being a leading e-learning specialist, will do extremely well there.”

imc from Saarbruecken receives eLearning Award twice

Saarbruecken, 03. January, 2022

The eLearning Journal has honored imc and its customers twice with the eLearning Award. This year, for the twelfth time, innovative and creative eLearning projects were honored at the national award program.

In the category "Micro Learning" the project "Tax & Legal Quality & Risk Management" was awarded, which imc implemented together with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The new e-learning replaces a mandatory training course at PwC that was previously conducted in person.

In six different exciting cases, the learners experience a real scenario of the daily work at PwC Tax & Legal, acquire new knowledge and apply it directly. They are part of a diverse PwC Quality & Risk Management team and support it in various missions. The modular structure of the e-learning makes it easy to adapt individual cases.

Storytelling, scenario-based learning, gamification and micro learning were chosen as didactic tools to make the e-learning as exciting as possible and at the same time enable a real reference to the working world. To underline the gamification and storytelling character, a comic-style design was developed.

Another award in the category "Validation" was won by imc together with its customer pfm medical for the "validated Learning Management System". As a company in the medical technology sector, pfm medical is subject to a strict obligation to provide proof of all work and training processes. By introducing the validated system, pfm medical can now record the prescribed complete documentation of all training courses directly in the Learning Management System (LMS) and does away with the paper records that were previously customary.

By validating the LMS, processes relevant to the validation of learning activities have been digitized and automated, saving time and resources and increasing security and reliability. Using a validated LMS today saves pfm medical about one working day of effort per week.

For the twelfth time, the eLearning Journal 2022 jury presented the eLearning AWARD. With over 300 project submissions, the interest in the eLearning AWARD was unbroken. In the end, state-of-the-art projects prevailed in 75 categories.

The Australian educational institute LearnX has honored imc and its customers with no less than six prizes at the "LearnX Awards" 2021. The international award program honors innovative and creative projects in the fields of learning and design every year.

Platinum Award LearnX 2021
LearnX Award Gold 2021

Melbourne, November 18, 2021

Among others, the awareness game "Cyber Crime Time" was awarded Gold in the category "Best Game E-Learning Design". In the freely available IT security training, learners become hackers themselves and try to damage a fictitious company. Along the way, they learn first-hand about the most common cyber attacks and can better recognize security risks in the future.

The highest possible award, the Platinum Award, imc received in the "Future Learning" category. The award went to the customised learning model that imc created together with the Green Climate Fund. The project originated in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Another Gold Award went to imc, in partnership with the Victorian Department of Health, for enhancing the Learning Management System (LMS) to accelerate knowledge transfer to the Covid-19 Task Force, in the category of "Best Pandemic Response: compliance training."

Also going to Victoria is the Gold Award in the "E-learning widespread adopter initiative" category for imc and the Department of Education and Training. Here, a pathway was created to train teachers in dealing with students who have difficulty with numeracy and mathematics.

Another Gold Award was received by imc and the Commission for Children & Young People (CCYP) Victoria in the "Employee Experience Strategy" category.

The fifth Gold Award was in the Best Performance Support category for the implementation of a performance-based management system at the New South Wales Department of Public and Justice.

imc AG expands portfolio of solutions for schools

Welcome to the hybrid classroom: imc AG expands portfolio of solutions for schools

imc AG, leading provider for digital training and professional development makes schools fit for digitalisation

Saarbruecken, 02 August 2021

Today, imc AG is presenting its My Digital School programme, expanding its portfolio for schools.

It was already well-known before the corona crisis: Germany’s schools are lagging behind considerably with their digital equipment. However, schools can only be successfully digitalised if the right conditions are created, and teachers are trained in handling and utilising relevant media and learning content. This is why imc wants to share its experience from 25 years of corporate learning with schools and school boards.

imc has been cooperating with several schools for a few years, and regularly exchanges ideas with them. Thus, the obvious next step is to expand the offer and support schools around the world with the expertise gained in this field. My Digital School aims to help teachers and schools to design tailored virtual and hybrid models, and realise them in a meaningful way.

imc Board Spokesman Christian Wachter has been driving cooperations with schools for many years. He is very aware of the issues many schools face:

image of imc CEO Christian Wachter

Christian Wachter, Board Spokesman, imc

“For one, there is a lack of expertise like knowing how to use modern communication tools and systems. Moreover, relevant teaching and learning concepts need to be developed, given that digital learning differs from traditional lessons. Filming a face-to-face lesson or sending out an overhead slide in PDF format does not make it digital learning. Nevertheless, providing encouragement to take a step towards digitalisation is a matter close to our hearts. This past year, we realised numerous successful projects in schools that can serve as best practice examples for others.”
