University of Freiburg/Germany counts more than 10.000 students working regularly with learning platform of IMC AG
Global rollout, tutors’ training and students’ information about the LMS CLIX made breakthrough success during winter term
Saarbrücken / Freiburg (Germany), 22. March 2007 – At the German Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg the learning portal „CampusOnline“ based on IMC’s learning management system CLIX counted more than 10.000 active users in the last winter term 2006/2007. The University of Freiburg is a client of IMC since many years.
With this amount of 10.000 users about one-third of the 30.000 students have used CLIX in the last winter term. The computer centre together with the competence center for new media at the university conduct user-focused workshops at regular intervals to leverage the use of the learning platform and to facilitate the teachers to get started with CampusOnline. The workshops not only focus on the practical use of the platform but also on the preparation and execution of the lectures.
CampusOnline is based on the learning management system CLIX from the leading European provider of advanced learning management solutions IMC AG. With CampusOnline the deployment of “new media” in the daily routine of the universities learning and teaching processes becomes more sufficient. It is used for the execution of online lectures as well as for the deployment of blended learning scenarios, adding lecture scripts and materials to face to face seminars. Many elements for the exchange and cooperation of users like document archives, discussion forums, and chats make it easier to care for the students and provide tutorial assistance.
In German speaking countries CLIX is the most widely distributed learning management system. Almost one-third of the academic institutions in Germany and the three recently nominated German excellence universities are CLIX-customers. CLIX provides interfaces and APIs for the integration of learning management with MS Sharepoint Server, SAP and campus management systems like those from the German companies HIS GmbH and the German Datenlotsen GmbH. The highly flexible CLIX technical architecture, platform functions and integration framework support all didactical as well as organizational aspects of the universities business process.
