EFMD joins IMC´s Study on the Learning Behaviour of Managers
The study is aimed at identifying the learning requirements, situations, habits and tools of managers, thus acquiring expertise for designing appropriate learning environments.
Dr. Frank Habermann, Director Consulting and Head of IMC´s Competence Centre Management Education said, “After the first phase of our study where we did a lot of field research within international firms, the goal was to expand the empirical basis and consolidate our first findings. Therefore, we are pleased that EFMD has joined us as a partner, because they are recognized globally as an authority in Management Education.”
Professor Eric Cornuel, the Director General of efmd added, “We are delighted to be able to contribute to this important survey. Our mission has always been to foster active dialogue and exchange between companies, and academic organizations, in and beyond Europe. We constantly search for new ideas for a continual enhancement of innovative thinking and best teaching practices in management and this survey is an important initiative that will certainly make a key contribution to this”.
The overall study that spans fifteen months was started in December 2003 and will extend until the beginning of 2005. The survey is targeted towards the upper management levels of large and medium-sized businesses and comprises a wide-ranging online questionnaire, qualitative interviews, and observation of how learning tools are used. The current second phase will provide useful pointers for designing appropriate learning environments and software tools, for which, in the third and final phase solutions will be designed and tested as prototypes.
