Screengrabbing (also screen recording) means capturing software application screens directly from the application. All activities (pop-up windows, mouse movements, text inputs or drawings) on the desktop are captured. In addition, you can visually or acoustically highlight the individual mouse actions.
Software training courses
For software training courses, e.g. for area-wide roll-out of a new version of MS Office, it is useful to record the relevant innovations directly in the application and then add an accompanying commentary. This gives the learner a comprehensive and easily understandable application that can be used anytime and anywhere.
Screengrabbing with LECTURNITY
LECTURNITY already has an integrated screengrabbing function with which you can easily capture any desktop activity.
You decide how you would like to highlight your mouse activities and simultaneously record your audio commentary. LECTURNITY automatically synchronises the recording with all other audio and video information to create one complete multimedia learning file.
Importing screengrabbing
If you wish to use an external programme for screengrabbing, you can import the recording in a format accepted by LECTURNITY (.avi), but we recommend that you create the recording directly with LECTURNITY as this means you will have a finished document directly, without the need for any further editing.
Caution! File size!
If you are planning to publish your content on your Intranet or on the Internet, ensure that you do not generate too large a file. For a software roll-out, for example, a script of some sort can help to reduce the data volume. Consider in advance which content you want to communicate and how you will illustrate it in the application. Focus on the key information to make sure the learning effect is long lasting.
